Reflections of AI and Digital Transformation in the Logistics Sector - The Year of Becoming Smarter

We are leaving behind a year in which generative AI models (GPT) using large language models (LLM) have solidified their place. Because dozens of software-producing companies solved many of their entrenched problems with the ease provided by these models. Freight forwarder companies that couldn't find the features they were looking for in software suppliers or wanted to offer solutions in more niche areas also rolled up their sleeves to develop their own applications and succeeded.

Since 2025 was a year where traditional problems were easily solved, it became a year where everyone considered themselves successful because they could implement what they had in mind. We can also call this year "the year of becoming smarter."

But did this process of becoming smarter reflect on the data; could freight forwarders, logistics producers, or even consumers improve their number of jobs, profitability, or customer loyalty?

Why couldn't our companies, which completed their shortcomings one by one using AI-supported tools, achieve an increase in the number of jobs and profitability?

The Illusion of Being at the Center

Humans see themselves at the center of the universe. Developments in AI solved yesterday's difficulties, but is AI only for us? "This is exactly where we are mistaken!".

The term "logistics producer" is a general concept; the company that is a "logistics producer" for an exporter is also a "logistics consumer." It receives services from a warehouse, port operator, another logistics producer, or a carrier. By nature, it plans by placing itself at the center; so far, everything is normal. What we didn't take into account is the fact that developments in AI affect all our counterparts from whom we receive and provide services, both vertically and horizontally.

Yes, we became smarter. Right at the moment we say "game over, we won," we realize that we are closer to losing.

The paradigm has changed; we have entered an era of unlearning what we know and relearning.

Did Shiptier Become Smarter in 2025?

I would like to say Shiptier was already smart, but I also know very well that yesterday's intelligence won't solve today's problems.

What Did Shiptier Do for the Transport Sector?

100+ Logistics companies we contributed to digital transformation
800+ Number of users
378k Generated quotes
84k+ Quotes turned into operations
540k TEU+ Transportation realized
93k+ Issued sales invoices

We strengthened the hands of our users with advanced adjustments in Shipsgo integration. I want to share a feedback about this:

"A marketing manager of a Shiptier user company recounts: While talking to my customer, I said, 'How are you, are you satisfied with us? Do you have any problems in operations? If so, please let us know.' The response I received from my customer was ironic: 'Thank you very much, we are very satisfied. The other day, your operator sent the early arrival email at 10 p.m.'"
In preferred sea shipments, Shiptier shares real-time shipment status data received via API with its customers.

This year we also became a university affiliate; we started teaching the "Software Applications for Logistics and Transportation" course to 4th-year Logistics Management students at Istanbul University Faculty of Transportation and Logistics, using the Shiptier model and also taking on the responsibility of the instructor.

We adapted our users to changing regulations without disturbing them at all. How? The GIB (Revenue Administration) regulated the refund invoice issuance scenario this year; our users probably didn't even notice this update.

With Frigian Informatics, it was acknowledged for the first time in Turkey that SaaS logistics software (logistics software running in a web browser) is a solid alternative to classic server-based forwarding (TMS) software.

What is Its Benefit to the Future of the Logistics Sector?

Humankind desires to be flawless but also wants to make a difference; meaning, humans seek "perfect imperfection," and find it more attractive.

I want to explain this through the concept of "Style": We call a continuously repeated imperfection in the same form "Style." A different perspective of an enterprise on events may seem like a mistake at first, but it creates a school of thought, and for future generations, this becomes not a different perspective but perfection. Isn't differentiation what is most sought after in business?

Shiptier has a perspective with clear lines but contrary to the ordinary. The increase in our number of users and the trust placed in us seem to confirm the correctness of our style.
